AARP.org Medicare

The Medicare section at AARP.org offers extensive information to help Medicare enrollees understand and make the most of Medicare.

The AARP (formerly the American Association of Retired Persons), a nonprofit organization, publishes the website and prepares its content.

Information includes a Medicare Enrollment Guide; FAQs; and articles on featured Medicare topics (see especially The Big Choice: Original or Medicare Advantage).

Tips for use:
Previously the website offered a comprehensive Medicare Q & A Tool (six sections that asked and provided detailed answers to questions about Understanding Medicare; Medicare Eligibility and Enrollment; The Driving Parts of Medicare; Types of Medicare Plans; Medicare with Other Coverage; How Much Medicare Costs); you can see a version of the tool from 2024 here.
– Most articles offer the option to switch between Spanish and English, or click AARP en Espanol on the upper right for a Spanish version of the website.
– The website homepage has an AI tool to answer Medicare questions, but ChatGPT was “unable to reliably find evidence that the tool is substantially different from ‘just asking ChatGPT or another large language model.'”
