CertificationMatters.org allows consumers to check whether a physician is certified in one of close to 40 medical specialties and 90 subspecialties.
The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) publishes the website using information from its Member Boards.
Tips for use:
– Search for a physician by last name and optional additional information (first name, state and specialty). If there are no results for the physician try omitting the state, since the ABMS system may not reflect a recent move to a new state.
– Click on the logo of a Board for a description of its specialty.
– The ABMS charges a fee for professional certification.
