Medicare.gov Care Compare

Care Compare at Medicare.gov provides information about quality and patient experience at facilities including hospitals, nursing homes, inpatient rehabilitation facilities and dialysis centers.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) publishes the website and creates its ratings.

Tips for use:
– From the Care Compare home page scroll to choose a type of facility, then search for facilities by location or name.
– For Hospitals, Medicare assigns an Overall Star Rating and a Patient Survey Rating to most acute care hospitals for adults. (An acute care hospital provides inpatient care for surgery, acute medical conditions or injuries.) Click on the name of the hospital and scroll to Quality for details on topics including timely and effective care; complications and deaths; and unplanned hospital visits.
– For ambulatory care centers (ASCs) and maternity care, go to Data.CMS.gov.
– Click Cambiar a Espanol on the upper right for a Spanish version.
